Our Board
Christopher Brennan / Non-executive Director
Christopher has over 25 years of experience in Chief Executive and Board Director positions in listed, unlisted, government and private companies, with deep financial management experience in the healthcare industry, including at Primary Healthcare Limited, Healthdirect Australia, Genea IVF, Department of Premier & Cabinet, Service NSW and others.
Early in his career Christopher was assistant manager at KPMG and subsequently became an Associate Director of Investment Banking at ANZ Bank. He has since driven consistent innovation and growth through astute financial management as CFO and COO, including capital raisings of A$30 million; successfully navigating companies through periods of acquisitions and transformation; and managing balance sheets in excess of A$1 billion.
He was formerly Acting Chief Financial Officer of Primary Healthcare and led their acquisition programs for acquiring general and specialist medical practices. As a board director he has led financial and governance input to the formulation of strategy; overseeing upheavals of legacy systems, ensuring adequate risk management and adherence to compliance.
Christopher has also acquired considerable professional expertise through intimate dealings with clients like BHP Billiton, Dexus, domestic banks and international investment banks (Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan and Macquarie.) He has an active interest in developing businesses to meet trends in advancements in technology.
Malcolm Lovell / Director
Malcolm is an experienced director, project manager and strategic consultant with 11 years’ experience in the General Practice industry, and 21 years’ experience in the broader business world working at organisations such as Cadbury Schwepps Australia and the Tasmanian Government.
Malcolm was the Managing Director of Doctors Tasmania, a group of practices which he grew from 1 site to 5 sites through acquisitions and greenfield developments and employing 30 doctors. He has extensive and hands-on experience in medical practice management, business development, operational enhancement, acquisition management, corporate governance and change management – being directly involved in all management and business development functions for both established practices as well as greenfield developments from conception to completion. Doctors Tasmania was successfully sold to Better Medical where Malcolm was appointed as General Manager for the state of Tasmania.
Malcolm was also General Manager at Doctors Australia, a digital health start-up which seeks to connect patients with providers through a low-cost and scalable digital platform. As well as this, he held a strategic and management consulting role at ROCG a boutique international consulting group.
Malcolm Lovell / Non-executive Director

Justin O’Donnell / Director
Justin has 15 years’ experience as a corporate executive, having held C-suite roles including CFO, COO, CCO and Company Secretary roles across both public and private assets. Justin demonstrated success in leading finance, IT and operational functions in high growth businesses, with his most recent appointment being as Chief Commercial Officer of Better Medical, a private equity backed healthcare asset.
At Better Medical, Justin was recruited to oversee and deliver the integration of the merger of the Better Medical and Smart Clinics businesses. He was involved in the initial integration of 50 clinics as part of this merger and subsequently led the acquisition and integration of 30 additional medical centres. During this appointment, Justin also led a complete technology transformation of the acquired practices with a suite of software and IT system implementations across the group.
Prior to his appointment as CCO at Better Medical, Justin was CFO and Company Secretary for Marque Group where he led the integration of 5 global acquisitions. Justin was also CFO and COO for Mainstream Group where he led the successful completion of 7 acquisitions and a successful IPO on the ASX.
Justin started his career in accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he progressed to Senior Associate in the audit division. Since then, he has led a dynamic career involving the full spectrum of financial functions for companies both in Australia and the United States.
Ahmed Syed / Founding Director
Ahmed is an entrepreneur with a degree in Biomedical Science and experience in healthcare management and marketing. Ahmed worked as a consultant for his own family’s medical businesses AAN Medical and Al-Noor Medical. The business started as a single 4 doctor practice in 2009, and has since grown to 16 doctors. Ahmed was involved in all aspects of the business including development of recruitment pipelines, expanding the scope of services and the marketing and IT function of the group. Following this, Ahmed was recruited by Adoni Media in a marketing role where he successfully led the central marketing campaign for the second largest medical deputising service in Australia, House Call Doctor, with 16 hubs across Queensland and New South Wales.
Ahmed subsequently started a marketing consultancy business which now operates it’s own brands distributing Himalayan salt products in Australia, New Zealand, France, Ireland and the UK. As the Founding Director he oversaw the business growth from the initial concept through to the current fully managed operation.
Ahmed is a firm believer in the need for consolidating the primary care industry to dedicated and active management support to well established family practices, ensuring they have the tools and people needed to continue thriving in a challenging landscape.
Andrew Knox / Non-executive Director
Andrew was a Partner at Allens Linklaters, a leading international law firm where he practiced in corporate and commercial law, specialising in mergers & acquisitions, governance and capital markets. He commenced as a partner in 1985 and for 33 years, was a trusted corporate adviser to multiple ASX listed companies such as MIM Holdings (Xstrata), Flight Centre, Suncorp; major government owned corporations such as Queensland Sugar Limited, Queensland Investment Corporation, Healthcare Logic, Queensland Treasury and multi-national European and US head quartered enterprises.
Andrew has deep transactional experience across a broad range of industries, having led and completed in excess of 150 acquisitions ranging in value from less than A$5 million for family businesses to several of more than A$3.5 billion in scale, including cross border transactions, such as the acquisition of Arrow Energy by Royal Dutch Shell and Petro China.
In addition, Andrew has a wealth of governance experience having advised companies through complex compliance issues, regulatory responsibilities, royal commissions, public offerings and privatisations.
Andrew has additionally been a member of the takeovers panel and has been named as a Preeminent Corporate Lawyer by Doyle’s Guide for many years. He remains a highly sought after consultant in legal transactional matters and He is an active member of the broader community having 25 years of experience as director on Boards of not-for-profit organisations such as the Queensland Anglican Schools Commission, among others.
Terence Dawson / General Manager
Terence is a qualified, accomplished and goal-driven management executive bringing
more than 12 years' extensive experience with healthcare management and tactical business
leadership. He has directly recruited over 30 healthcare professionals over his career and has held
operational management , business development and project management roles across 7
companies ranging from single practices to publicly listed companies like Primary Healthcare.
Terence has a depth of hands-on experience in the in primary care industry having been
involved in the setup and subsequent development of new practices, acquisition of existing
practices, turn arounds of underperforming practices and co-ordination of numerous business
development initiatives for both small and large entities. Most recently he has added more than $750k of additional
revenue to a single practice he has consulted for. Terence has been a manager for teams of up to 15 admin staff, 10 GPs and 22 other allied health professionals at a time.
Terence has had direct involvement in the management of all aspects of primary care including
marketing and recruitment; cybersecurity and IT capability development, having hands-on experience with preventing attempted data hacks; accreditation and
regulatory compliance; implementation of business development initiatives including pilot
projects, incentive and grant income; building and maintaining key doctor and staff
relationships; development of new income streams via allied health, pathology and a range of
aligned services.
